Manly 120 Palette Review

Hello Honeys

Finally time for me to review my Manly 120 Eyeshadow Palette.

I can honestly say I was very nervous about purchasing this product. Although it wasn't too expensive, it was coming all the way from Hong Kong and I had seen some disastrous videos on YouTube about how people had received them and all of the eye shadows were shattered :-0

So I gave in and ordered mine from a seller on eBay called tvgametoy2009, and I feel they deserve a major shout out as the parcel I got was so well packaged and everything arrived so perfectly. I have a post on the un-wrapping and you can see all of the layers of bubble wrap and stuff used to make sure it arrived safe and sound. I was so impressed I have ordered another palette from the same seller for an up coming give away. There are plenty of sellers on eBay selling them but I waited until the same seller had them back in stock to order.

On to the palette. It is amazing, 120 of the most vivid and well pigmented colours I have ever seen. The only thing I will say is it seems to lean quite heavily to greens and blues so if these are not your colours this may not be the palette for you. There are also a heap of purples, pinks, yellows, oranges and a good selection of neutrals and blacks and silvers too.

I have used this on a few occasions now to do quite nice colourful eyes. I used it on Paddy's day to do a really striking green eye and I also used it today - where the inspiration for a blog post came. Today I opted to use the neutrals. I never ever ever wear brown shadow, I hate brown eye shadows on me I think they make my eyes look scaldy, but today I fancied a change from my regular green or purple so I opted to do a brown smokey eye and it looked really really nice. So I can honestly say, having used the full range of colours, that this palette is a must have especially if you are starting out with brighter colours, you get to sample 120 for a very reasonable price.

The size of each colour also surprised me when I opened the palette. You definitely get a good quantity of each colour I would say almost the size of a 20c piece. There is very little fall out from these shadows too which means a lot less wastage. They blend so super easy and the pigmentation is up there with the best of eye shadows.

I would definitely recommend this to my friends and intend getting a few before Christmas as presents. The price with the seller I used was $6.79 for the palette itself and the postage was $12.00 on top of that so in total the palette cost me only around €13.50. So ladies if you have a few bob and are looking to stock up on bright shades, the Manly Palette is for you.

Bed Head - Some Like it Hot

Hello my Lovelies :)

Just a quick review on one of the goodies I got in my haul yesterday, Bed Head's Some Like it Hot Heat and Humidity Resistant Sulfate Free Shampoo to Smooth and Sooth.

I used this shampoo last night, I am one of those people when I buy something I have to use or wear it as soon as I possibly can :). Unfortunately they did not have the conditioner with it when I purchased or I would have snapped that up too.

So to the product. It came out of the tube with a lovely citrus fruity smell and the consistency wasn't like any shampoo I have ever used. It was closer to a thick gel than the usual cream or liquidy gel consistency of most shampoos. There was no chance of it sliding out of your hand or being washed off by the shower. It foamed up really well and the smell got even nicer. It was even quite easy to wash out, I find that some shampoos just don't wash out well and you are left with residue on your hair for ages.

After using the shampoo I used my usual Aussie Hair Care Take the Heat Conditioner. I usually Spray my hair when it is toweled dried with some Aussie Miracle Hair Insurance leave in conditioner and allow my hair to dry naturally.

On a side note my other half came up stairs a little while after my shower and asked me what that lovely smell was. The only different thing I had used was the shampoo so thumbs up on the smell :)

So I got up this morning to straighten my hair and it just felt so lovely when I brushed it. No tangles and it felt the healthiest it has in a long time. I know when you use a new shampoo/conditioner for the first time your hair usually feels nice but this was different.

I have very dry/frizzy/mind of it's own hair and it just feels so silky and healthy. I didn't have to spend as much time straightening it either which is a major bonus. Although it is completely necessary for me to straighten my hair, I know the damage it is doing and I hate doing it. That is why I gave up blow drying to try to counter act some of the heat damage.

Also my hair is dyed black and the shine off it in the sun this morning was sooooo pretty.

So overall I am well impressed with my first Bed Head product and at €6.99 in TK Maxx with a regular retail price of between €10.00 - €15.00 I will definitely be making regular pit stops at TK Maxx to pick up some more of these lovely products. Only wish they had the conditioner too.

Haul-i-day - There should be more days like this

I have just had one of those days that only come around once in a blue moon and I am like a happy child at Christmas. I can honestly say that retail therapy is real. I was happy this morning when I got up because I was going shopping, I was happy during the day because I was shopping and I am super happy now because I am relishing in my purchases. Please don't judge me :)

I had the day off today which was already a plus but I decided I would get up as usual at 7.30 as if I was going to work to get a head start on the day. Got myself ready and then had a cup of tea and sat and watched the news with my honey. It was lovely not to be rushing out the door :)

I got to the shopping centre around 10am and there were fudge all people there so I got to shop in comfort. The very first place I hit was MAC with my Back 2 Mac goodies :) In return for the 6 empties I got my first MAC lipstick in Up The Amp. Its a bit of a wild colour but I lurve it already :). I splashed out (well for me anyway) and got 2 shadows in Stars'n'rockets and Digit and I got myself the 15 pan pro palette that I have wanted for aaaages even though I only have a few shadows :)

Digit is on the top and Stars'n'Rockets on the bottom. I got the Pro Pan shadows and they were €11.50 Each. The Po Palette was €16.50.

I wandered on to Debenhams, The Body Shop and Boots but I didn't get anything. Really wanted the Vintage 17 palette in the pastels but they were all out and they had no Collection 2000 felt tip liner pen :( So then I headed in to Claire's and found some lovely clip on earrings. I have my ears pierced but they keep closing so I have decided to give up and use the old clip ons. Here are the beauties I got.

So I had given up on any more nice little beauty finds so I headed for good old Pennys/Primark and got some nice bits. I dunno about you but when I get stuff in Pennys I never ever try them on and most of the stuff is heading back to my local Pennys tomorrow. :( Although that just means more spending :)

This top is soooo unusual it actually has panels separating the sleeves. Unfortunately I have to leave it back because I am quite tall and though it is kind of a crop top anyway it just looks far too short on me and I look silly. Price €8.00

This is just a pretty V Neck T with a logo. Price €3.00

Super cute flip flops with flower €1.50. I always start my flip flop shopping early because by the time the good weather comes all the good ones are gone.

The head band and bath pillow are part of my mums Mother's Day present and were €2.00 each but I thought I would include them here. The ring was €5.00 and again is too small for my big man hands so is going back tomorrow too :( Pity cos I loooooove it.

See how cool it is :( I also got some other bits and bobs like plain vests and trackie bottoms etc nothing exciting enough to show you.

So at this stage I decided to go home but just as I was driving out I saw TK Maxx in the retail park and decided to head in and boy oh boy am I glad I did :) Check out the little gems I got in there :)

I got this pretty little cardboard suitcase to store some of my make up in. Price €4.99. I also scored TIGI Bed Head Some Like It Hot Sulfate Free Shampoo for €6.99 which is deadly. They had like proper Hairdresser sized bottles for €16.99. Pity they didn't have the conditioner too but I am excited to try this.

I couldn't believe when I found NYX in a shop in Ireland I was like who slipped me some Felix Felicis cos this is my lucky day :) How deadly is that an NYX Make Up Box for €12.99 and no postage. Happy dayyyys. and sitting beside it was the Nails Inc set with 3 gorgeous pinks. Colours included are Mulberry Walk, Walton Street and Regents Place. I have never bought Nails Inc Before but I am pretty sure they are more than €5.00 apiece for a 10ml bottle which is what the worked out at because this set only cost €14.99.

To make things even better I came home to 2 parcels. I with an Essie Nail Polish in and the other with a Kabuki Brush, Happy days. Now I am away to cook my wonderful other half a big roast chicken dinner as a thank you for the few bob he gave me to spend today :)

Storage Idea

Hey Ladies,

I just wanted to share a little storage idea with you. I have been searching high and low for one of those meshy type letter holders all the YouTube gurus have for holding their palettes and do you think I can find one... No. The only one I found was like €30.00.

So I was in Woodies (a DIY store) yesterday and was just browsing around the housewares section (I was only supposed to be getting a pot plant) and I found a great little thing for holding my palettes. It's actually a toast holder for using at the breakfast table. It cost me all of €2.99 and does the job perfect. My Manly palette is a bit on the fat side to fit in it but all my other little palettes fit just fine. If I do come across my elusive letter holder I probably will buy it out of principle and for my Manly palette but this is just dandy for now.

Please let me know if you have any other clever little storage ideas

Loooong Weekend

Hey Ladies,

I'm like a child getting her school holidays :) I really can't wait for this break from work. I have tomorrow off cos it is St. Patricks day and then took Friday off to make it a super long weekend.

It's not really a make up post tonight because I am not feeling great and haven't got the energy but I felt like rambling so I hope you don't mind. Feel free to skip by me :)

Firstly THANK YOU so so much to all my followers I now have 60 on twitter and 10 here on Blogger. I am astounded and really very grateful. I hope to do a Manly Palette give away when i reach the magical 100 Twitter followers but would love to get some more on the blog too :)

I am thinking of pausing my lent on Friday and going up to Debenhams and MAC :) I feel I deserve it. We are down 2 ppl in our office since December and there are only 2 of us left doing 4 ppls jobs :( So as a treat to myself I am going to do a bit of retail therapy. We are both exhausted but the other girl only does a 4 day week so 1 day a week I am the only person in the office doing 4 ppls jobs - hellllls.

There is a Forever 21 where I am going too and I have never been in it and the Boots there is mahusive and has loads more brands so needless to say the credit card is coming with me. I am hoping that Forever 21 sizes are quite generous cos I am of the fuller figure if you know what I mean :)

If you have any recommendations I would love to hear them :) - Sorry no review tonight but will hopefully have a huge haul for you over the weekend :)

Also this week I have found blog sales..... I have already bought from 3, I need to be stopped although in all three only 1 lipstic and 1 eyeliner has been bought so not breaking lent too badly. Mostly I got nail polish. Will do a blog sale haul post when I get it all.

You may have already seen this picture on Twitter but here is how I am wearing my nails for St. Patricks Day. I will admit that I removed it just now because I am afraid my boss will flip his lid, I regularly get comments about my nail polish choices as it is :)

ELF Elements Eyeshadows

Hey Ladies,

I am on a roll with the eyeshadow reviewing lately. This evening is ELF Elements.

I got the little compact originally to put MAC shadows in but then decided to hold out and get an actual MAC 15 pan thingy when I get up to the counter soon. (by the by anybody know how much the little 15 pan thingys are and if you can get them at the counter?) Anyway then I had a container waiting to be filled so I picked 2 colours I knew I would use, Wisteria - a gorgeous pale pink and Periwinkle - Periwinkle.... not only do I love the colour I love the name. I just ordered China Glaze Secret Periwinkle. This summer is gonna be full of Periwinkles :-) Anyway completely off point. Periwinkle is a gorgeous purple, I have plenty of purples but none like this.

Both colour go on a bit sheer at first but its easy to build them. I stuck a bit of NYX Milk Jumbo Pencil under them and they really stood out. I applied them together and they just compliment each other so well. I really like them. You don't lose a load of fall out when you put your brush in them and the pigmentation is pretty when you get the hang of it.

I will definitely be getting some more shades.... maybe even them all because at €1.70 a shade and €1.70 for the palette I could fill them all.

There are other options to fill your quad such as cheek and lip products but I think I will stick with the shadows.
